Long haired Dogs should be brushed and combed on a regular basis to prevent matting, tangles should be removed before bathing as they will become tighter once they are wet. If your dog gets wet whilst out on a walk they should be combed and dried to prevent matting. Do not allow your dog to roll about after a bath as this is often the cause of serious matting. Always try to brush or comb and blow dry after a bath, as this will keep your dogs hair in good condition and help prevent tangles. Always use a good quality dog shampoo. Conditioner or detangler can be used on long haired dogs to help prevent tangling.

Brushing your dog whether long haired or short haired is good for your dogs circulation, helps keep the coat in good condition, helps you to notice lumps, ticks, fleas or injury. This also makes your dog’s visit to the grooming parlour less stressful as he/she will be used to being groomed.
